ICN was created with the purpose to give definite solutions to two concrete problems :
· The newborn custody , while he/she remains in the hospital, by means of the use of Neonatal Codifier .
This part of the System is already in use in the most prestigious maternity wards in Spain.
· The objective and unequivocal identification of the newborn by using biometric fingerprint technology of the Electronic System of Newborn Identification (SeiN) . This second part of the System , which we are now presenting, will be available from now on.
With this System ICN gives:
· A necesary good.
· Which guarantees the rights for the newborn to be identified objectively, with the most modern technology.
· Gives guarantees to families.
· Gives peace of mind and appropriate tools to the experts.
· Gives also sastisfaction to the institutions and to the people responsable of the maternity words.
This initiative synchronizes with programs already defined to guarantee the rights of children, such as 'Electronic Identity and Civil Registry', among others.
ICN's purpose is to adapt these systems to the objective identification of all the patients in the hospital, together with clinical history and prescriptions. With this, they resolve a problem that causes millions of deaths worldwide(263.000 in USA alone during 2000/02).
"The improper identification of patients", is the number one Security alert in Clinical Service proclaimed by the "Investigation Center for Patient Clinical Security"created recently by the Avedis Donabedian Fundation and the Mapfre Medicine fundation. |
